Fasting FAQ'S

When does the Fast start? Jan. 9th - Jan. 29th

What should I Fast? Fasting is about one thing - Seeking God and asking the Holy Spirit to show what you can set aside so that you can position yourself to Honor, Seek, and hear from God. It is a time to deny ourselves and unplug from the world to awaken our focus. It is a spiritual awakening, a soul detox. Spend some time in prayer and ask God to show you what you should fast.

What are some different kinds of Fast?
Many people participate in the Daniel Fast: Eat no meat, no sweets and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables.

Full Fast: Drink only liquids

Media Fast: TV, social media, ETC either by themselves or in addition to a food fast.

Partial Fast: A partial fast is from from sun up to sundown. You can select from three types of fasting —a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up at least one item of food.

What are some scripture reference for Fasting?Daniel 10:2-3 Isaiah 58 Matthew 6:16-18, Matthew 9:14-15, Luke 18:9-14

What should I expect when fasting? When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. This can cause mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability during withdrawal from caffeine and sugars. And naturally, you will have hunger pains. Limit your activity and exercise moderately. Take time to rest. Fasting brings about miraculous results. You are following Jesus’ example when you fast. Spend time listening to uplifting music. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mind set on seeking God.

Why should I participate? God is certain to bless your life in new and exciting ways during the fast. We encourage you to write down your prayers and the many ways God reveals Himself to you. We can't wait to see what God is going to do in your life and in the life of our church! Share your story here
